My family have been visiting Rosedale on the New South Wales South Coast for more than a decade. On New Years Day 2020 – just days after we returned to Sydney – Rosedale and surrounding townships were hit by one of the many catastrophic blazes that have so devastatingly affected Australians this summer. Many homes were lost and families were stranded on the beach for more than 8 hours under a sky of orange smoke and toxic ash. Our family’s holiday home was lost amongst many properties that morning.
Rosedale was the one of the first places I was able to freely experiment with photography. The use of many different cameras and processes over the years has resulted in a diverse catalog of imagery that I feel captures the raw beauty of the Eurobodalla region in which my family cherish so much. Remembering Rosedale’ is an exhibition displaying my perspective of the region throughout the past decade.
On 7th February 2020 the ‘Remembering Rosedale’ bushfire auction raised $2,422 which was donated to the Eurobodalla Shire Council’s Disaster Relief fund which raised over $200,000 for the residents of the New South Wales South Coast.
